Northcliffe – the scenic route

I’ve run this ride several times before and it’s always been fun. This plan is to make our way down to Northcliffe using scenic back-roads where possible. Expect to see a lot of trees.

Saturday

Start from Armadale at 9:00 am. Meet in the carpark across the road from McDonald’s.

• Southwest highway to Burekup with a coffee stop near Harvey.

• Back roads through the Ferguson valley and further south to Kirup

• Southwest highway again past Manjimup with a lunch stop in Balingup

• Wheatley Coast Road to Northcliffe

• Distance for day one is about 340 kms

Overnight at the Northcliffe Hotel and Motor Inn (08) 9776 7089

They have six motel rooms, most of which have 2 beds so they can be shared, at $149.00. There are hotel rooms with shared facilities from $60.00. Dinner is available at the hotel. There’s also a family unit in the motel section. A couple of people have used this in past years and it’s good. The beds are spread over 3 rooms. Ask the hotel about the price. I spoke with Helen, and she was very helpful. Mention that you are with the Perth Ulysses Branch.

Sunday

Leave Northcliffe at 8:00 am

• Pemberton for breakfast then on to Manjimup

• Nannup via Graphite Road for coffee

• More back roads to Kirup again and then through to Collie for lunch

• Mornington Rd and Southwest Highway back to Armadale

• Distance for day two as far as Armadale is about 321 kms
