brief update
I had a Contrast CT scan Tuesday, saw Oncologist today; shrinkage is evident to varying degrees, mostly with main tumor, but also with several nodes - this all good, so will continue with current Chemo regime.
Nasal Gastric tube came out today (I feel and look 'human' again), so can put a bit more food in, gain some weight and energy and I'll be back on 2 wheels very soon.
Will have the 1000ml Curcumin IV tomorrow, and start 96 hours round 3 Chemo on Monday; Chemo should work better and result in greater shrinkage after tomorrows Curcumin IV

'nother brief update.
I started round 3 of Chemo this week, head into SCGH about 4pm today to change to 2nd 48 hour pack. Far more nauseas than 2 previous Chemo sessions; quite probably cause I'm eating real food now.
Good news is that in past 6 days I've put on 3kg in weight (approx 400-500 gms/day) - gone from 69.1kg to 71.1kg ... on my way to 80-82kg; plus increased body fat a little too
If I feel up to it (hope so), I might trot along for the Armadale Ulysses ride on Sunday, well maybe just till morning tea break, or little earlier ... one little step at a time. _________________ 'Be the change you want to see in the world' (Mahatma Gandhi)

been a rough fortnight
Had another 96 hours of Flourouracil Chemo (3rd round), then on the Sat was dehydrated after loosing 3 KG of fluids (thanks to Chemo), so spent about 5 hours at AK Hospital getting 2 litres Salin via IV. On Mon still wasn't right so spent 10 hours in SCGH getting another 2 units of blood cause Haemoglobin was low again (thanks to Chemo again); then rest of week had Mucositis resulting in painful ulcers in mouth meaning great difficulty eating/drinking/talking, and still loosing weight ... down to 65Kg at moment.
Mucositis is over now, so eating like crazy trying to get weight back on, but nausea is really bad too, so that limits how much food I can take in at a time; and as such I'm not rushing to answer phone calls etc, just napping a lot.
The good news is that I saw Radiology last week and they see no further need for radiation treatment (only had the 1 x 5 day session), as Chemo seems to be doing the job; main tumour has shrunk (cause I'm eating), and there is improvement in the other affected nodes - so that's all good. _________________ 'Be the change you want to see in the world' (Mahatma Gandhi)

Great to see you still have a strong positive attitude. With your determination, you will be back to full strength in no time...
Keep up the fight, and remember that this is a great place to vent your frustrations. We are all growing older and our systems arent wot they used to be. I can relate to the nausea, ( have occasional bouts of gastro Parysis {Paralised Stomach} thanks to Diabetes). _________________ Ex JUG Spiderman |

Well done Johnno.
I can say for certainty that although modern medicine helps a lot, the main killer of the big C is your mind. positive attitude and not taking on the victim role are characteristics of the people who win,

just quick post;
it rained overnight, but the sky was blue when I got up, so decided to take a 'big' little step and go for a ride.
I went down to the Armadale meet point and had a good chin-wag with a few people there; ended up about 18 bikes for the 'ride n decide', so I tagged along through the back roads til we got to Dell Park Rd where I refueled at the Liberty Station and then headed for home for another feed session.
I covered about 130kms in total - damn it felt good, legs were a bit weak, and clutch hand was buggered by the time I got home, but I thoroughly enjoyed the ride ... great for the soul. _________________ 'Be the change you want to see in the world' (Mahatma Gandhi)

Another little update;
I managed to put on a bit over 1kg the past few days, as the weather warms up it should get easier as all food won't getting converted into energy for body heat.
Went to the Armadale meet point again today; did a part-ride to the end of Kingsbury drive where I turned right to head home, everyone else continued on to Pinjarra for morning tea, then on to Quindanning for lunch - won't be long before I can get a full ride in ... totaled 136 kms for my ride today.
A mate's is giving me a lift to Mandurah tomorrow where I will pick-up my 2nd bike; a 2000 model ST1100 ex-police bike. It'll suit the long distance rides for my back, neck & shoulders more than the TL1000S does. _________________ 'Be the change you want to see in the world' (Mahatma Gandhi)

You will love the ST, tis a very easy bike to ride. As usual, it will take a few Ks to get the feel and then you are off. I dont know why I waited so long to get one. _________________ Ex JUG Spiderman |

it felt ok on the test ride, though I'm still a little weak, I'm sure I'll get used to it quickly _________________ 'Be the change you want to see in the world' (Mahatma Gandhi)

I found that it takes a little while to get used to the weight of the bike when stopped at the lights, but once moving it was nicely balanced. Tacling roundabouts feels easy, especially when compared to a ZZR1100.
It will be good incentive to exercise and build your strength. _________________ Ex JUG Spiderman |
