Travelling south, we followed a magnificent bit of bitumen through the South Flinders Ranges. This area boasts nice scenery and we were glad we decided to take this detour. That road would be an excellent motorcycling road, with many fast curves, were it not for the multitude of unpredictable kangaroos that inhabit that area.

We followed this road all the way south, via Quorn to Port Augusta.
Fuelling up at Port August, we headed for the Eyre Peninsula, and stopped along its eastern coast for the night.
The following day we headed for Port Lincoln, for fuel and to fill the jerry cans.
We also did some sightseeing along the Eyre Peninsula coast, looking at cliffs, old buildings and the like, and had a good look at Streaky Bay. Very picturesque.

We overnighted in Ceduna, in some dump of a "cabin park". The manager lied to us about the quality of the accommodation. Never again at that spot.

Fraser Range turnoff. This is an excellent stopover, with quality accommodation, a campers' kitchen and a bit of history.

The following morning we headed home, and that was the end of our nearly 9000km trip, of which around 1600km was on gravel!

Bill,

A truly epic journey, worthy of Odysseus (aka Ulysses). Well done!

They make movies in Quorn: Russell Crowe’s “The Water Diviner”, Guy Pearce’s “The Rover” and Stan’s “Wolf Creek” was filmed in and around Quorn in mid 2017. So, you were looking for Mick Taylor in all the wrong places.

Ah yes, Boxer’s Pass, I remember it well.

Ode to Boxer’s Pass II

The moment it broke down
I knew I was stuck in that town
Say a little pray for me
While tearing my hair out
And wondering how the eff to get out
Say a little prayer for me

I’ll spare you the rest.
