CANCELLED Long Ride to Wongan - with John M.

*** CANCELLED - Ride Leader is unwell. ***

EARLY departure from East Perth at 8:30am.
  • This is a run up to Wongan (lunch at the pub), via Clackline, Toodyay (caffeine) and Goomalling. It's always a nice run on the twisty Toodyay-Goomalling road.
  • The return route takes in some little ridden roads from Wongan across towards the coast.
There are some stunning views across to the coastal plain to be photographed too and we can stop for any "snappers" amongst us.
  • I'm looking forward to some nice spring weather so we can enjoy the verdant landscape and the scent of wildflowers.
This one is about riding to enjoy the ambience.
  • This will be a long ride at about 520kms. Fuel at Toodyay, Goomalling, Wongan, New Norcia, Gingin, Muchea.
  • Ride leader: John Morrison. 0415 198 183 for further info.

Annual Ulysses Memorial Ride
This is a "must do" event for Ulysses Members.
  • Ulysses Branches around the country, indeed round the world, dedicate the 2nd Sunday in September each year as a day of remembrance for those members who have "Ridden On". In most cases this is done in practice by all the Ulysses branches in a given area jointly or independently riding to a place where a short ceremony is conducted to honour those members. The tradition in the greater Perth area is for branches from as far north as Geraldton and as far south as Bunbury and as far east as Kalgoorlie to ride to the park at Lake Leschenaultia, Rosedale Road, Chidlow. There, someone conducts a short memorial service by the banks of the lake, at a monument dedicated by those branches as a permanent marker for this purpose.
  • Note: the parklands surrounding Lake Leschenaultia are administered by the Shire of Mundaring. The shire sometimes charges an entry fee to enter the grounds. If this happens, someone designated by the ride coordinator will often collect the entry fee at the start of the ride and the "treasurer" for the event will then pay for the group, to expedite entry.
  • Logistics:
  • For Perth Branch: Leave from BP East Perth at 9:00am sharp, for a short scenic ride.
  • Up to 10:15am -- Branches assembly point is To Be Advised, as the usual carpark assembly point is no longer available.
  • A Coffee Van may be parked at the start point, for those who need the caffeine.
