• If you are riding to the AGM this year: Here's a practice run.
• I am going on a three day run and invite anyone who likes to ride long distance to come along, especially if you are new to this form of ride and those thinking of going to the AGM for the first time in Alice Springs.
• The ride will take us from Perth to the Porongurup Caravan Park for the first night,followed by breakfast and fuel at Jerramungup, as well as fuel at Ravensthorpe. Lunch will be taken at the Gibson Soak Hotel. We finish the day at Norseman.
• Monday we will leave Norseman after an early breakfast, with a fuel stop at Coolgardie and Southern Cross, lunch and fuel at Merredin, fuel at Tammin and then through to Perth.
• If this is your first long distance trip please pack all the things you will be taking to Alice Springs so we can work out logistics and how to load your bike.

• Camp at the old school grounds near the river and have a bbq dinner on the Saturday Night.
• The shire will provide a 'free' breakfast for all Ulysses members on the Sunday morning.
• All they ask in return is to display our bikes for a few hours as part of the festival.

• Depart East Perth 10:00am Saturday 15th, Armadale at 11:00am.
• Travel via Beverley, Brookton, Boddington and Dwellingup.
• We take the Brookton Highway to Westdale then along the twist and turns beside the Dale River to Beverley. After lunch and REFUELING take the highway to Pingelly to turn west and ride cross country to Boddington in time to pitch a tent and sink a beer before the Bar Be Que and Show.
• SUNDAY MARCH 16TH...Depart Boddington School Camp Ground at midday. We head home after breakfast and the bike "shine and show", over the range to Dwellingup for lunch. We then travel on through the forest to North Dandalup to rejoin the highway and head for Pinjarra. Via Armadale we arrive back in Perth by mid afternoon.

• New Norcia - a picturesque destination after winding through some scenic countryside.
• Up West Coast Highway and Marmion Ave for morning tea at Yanchep Beach Lagoon. Then to Wanneroo/Lancelin Road via Two Rocks. Cut across from Wanneroo/Lancelin Road via Observatory to Gingin road. Through Gingin and nearly to Bindoon, then turning onto the Bindoon/Moora Road. Right at Magumber, taking you through to New Norcia for lunch at the pub.
• Return via Great Northern Hwy to Bindoon. After Bindoon, turn off left onto the Chittering Valley circuit. Come out at Bullsbrook and then back through the Swan Valley to home.

• This will be an opportunity for members and their partners to get together and support a worthy cause, "St. Vincent De Paul Society."

• Annual Waroona Picnic Ride.
• Will press-gang someone into towing the BBQ trailer (Kurt?). BYO Picnic at the Dam site.
• This is a nice little run we do every year, albeit over some familiar roads.
• As long as it doesn't rain, the picnic site below the dam is very pleasant and picturesque.
• Toilet facilities are a bit shabby / non-existent, so plan ahead. Boys can stand in the bush, girls can hold on!
• The run takes us via orchard country / Pickering Brook, along Canning Road and on a great bit of narrow winding road past Canning Dam.
• Then it's up to Jarrahdale for morning tea, followed by the well-trodden tourist route down and back up the scarp to Dwellingup.
• We'll re-group there before tackling the twisties and sweepers on the back way through to Waroona Dam.
• There will be sausages, buns and onions etc provided by the club on-board the bbq trailer. BYO drinks and anything else you need.

• A challenge has been issued to determine the most frugal bike - Brocka's Beemer, or Boxer's Kawi.
• A lot of banter has been going on about this, and it is now time to put this to the test.
• The ride will commence in East Perth, where contestants will fill their tanks under the watchful eye of scrutineers (BillWest and Chips).
• The ride then ends up in Williams, after a variety of ride conditions (city, backroads, highway).
• A coffee stop will be included at Jarrahdale.
• At Williams, tanks will again be filled, supervised by the same scrutineers. This will then determine which bike and rider combination has used the most fuel over the same distance. Scrutineers will NOT pay for contestants' fuel.
• After this, the ride will continue via Narrogin and Brookton, before returning to suburbia. Tanks will again be filled in Kelmscott.
• Ride Leader for the day will be one of the scrutineers. The other scrutineer will function as Tail End Charlie. Strict ride protocol will be used, ie staggered formation, no less than 3 seconds and no more that 5 seconds apart. Any contestant observed to ride outside of these guidelines will be disqualified, without appeal.
• Scrutineering will take place between 0830 and 0850 hours only.

• Ulysses Branches round the country, indeed round the world, dedicate the 2nd Sunday in September each year as a day of remembrance for those members who have "Ridden On". In most cases this is done in practice by all the Ulysses branches in a given area jointly or independently riding to a place where a short ceremony is conducted to honour those members. The tradition in the greater Perth area is for branches from as far north as Geraldton and as far south as Bunbury and as far east as Kalgoorlie to ride to the park at Lake Leschenaultia, Rosedale Road, Chidlow. There, someone conducts a short memorial service by the banks of the lake, at a monument dedicated by those branches as a permanent marker for this purpose.
• Note: the parklands surrounding Lake Leschenaultia are administered by the Shire of Mundaring. The shire charges an entry fee to enter the grounds. Someone designated by the ride coordinator will often collect the entry fee at the start of the ride and the "treasurer" for the event will pay for the group to expedite entry.

• A Great Little Morning Run has been organised by Richard, as follows:
• This will suite those who don't like going out for a full day, or those boys who get nagged by the "Missus" to do stuff on a Sunday.
• You'll have all afternoon to do the gardening!
• We'll head up Welshpool Road and through Orchard Country to Mundaring Weir. Great roads, but be careful.
• Then on through Helena Valley to Gidgegannup to sample the delights of the wonderful bakery.
• Having put on a few kilos, we will head home via the Swan Valley.

• This is a shortish ride (< 200 km) which takes us on some new roads that were recently opened.
• It is also a slower ride than usual because most of the route is posted at 80 kmph and it has lots of twists and turns.

• A relaxed Sunday morning ride to the Kinfolk Café at 16 Craig St, Mundaring, for breakfast.
• This is a shortish ramble in the hills at moderate speed limits and takes in some very pretty countryside.
• The Kinfolk is a lovely café in a garden setting with an interesting menu and great coffee! Keith G discovered it while we were on a ramble in the hills a week or so ago. Thanks, Keith!
• Distance to the café is about 55kms via the route we will follow and depending where home is for you, the total distance should be about 100kms.

• Depart EAST PERTH 09:00, then from ARMADALE at 10:00.
• Explore some of the great back roads east of Perth on this ride up and over the Darling Ranges.
• Take the Brookton Highway to Westdale then along the twist and turns beside the Dale River to Beverley.
• After morning tea head south and to Brookton for REFUELLING.
• We take the highway to Pingelly to turn west and ride cross country to Boddington for Lunch.
• Heading home it’s over the range to Dwellingup, on through the forest to North Dandalup, rejoining the highway at Pinjarra to travel on through Armadale and then Perth.
• Round trip is around 460km.
