Motorcycle Graduated Rider Training and  Licensing project below:

The below information introduces the Motorcycle Graduated Rider Training and Licensing project currently being undertaken by the Department of Transport WA. This is a very important project that could change the way us West Australians obtain a motorcycle license. Why have I sent this to you ? You are listed as a contact for one of the 10 Ulysses Branches in WA.

As Ulyssians we collectively hold a wealth of experience riding motorcycle and have all experienced , either directly or through observing others, the difficulties of learning to ride. This knowledge and the opinions that it produces are valuable to this project and the improvement of motorcycle training and licensing in WA. Could you please pass this information on to the members of your respective branch and encourage them to become involved via the public forums and online survey. Meeting at Geraldton African Reef Resort 7th May 2010     8:30am to 4:30pm

Further information can be found on the project web site at: http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/grtl

The public workshops have been scheduled for the dates and venues listed in the table below. People can register their interest via the form at:      http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/licensing/yourlicence/20252.asp#workshop

GENERAL BUSINESS:

  • There is a Midwest Life Education fundraiser on Saturday 22nd May at the Geraldton Yacht Club Tickets $50 at Queens Park Theatre. Dress Theme is Safari with prizes for best costume. 6pm -12 midnight. Ph 9956 1600 for more info.
  • Anyone thinking of going to Newcastle AGM in 2011 the dinner themes are Horse Racing 1st night and Western on the 2nd night.
  • There was a very spirited discussion on the choice of a club shirt again so a sub-committee has been chosen to investigate options. Anyone with ideas can email Dale.     dale_clifton_42@hotmail.com The sub-committee members are: Ian Johnston, Dale Clifton. Helen Orchard, John Norton, Graeme Stewart, Peter Moore, Barry McConkey.
  • Discussion on how to conduct a ride. We ride as individuals but to make sure everyone is up and going and not broken down when we leave. Contact between front and rear riders - phone and radio also to use a vest. Cheryl Moore has volunteered for this when on a ride. Others may need to take a turn. Also to leave a larger space between bikes as some riders feel uncomfortable when other bikes ride closely. Basically ride with common sense safely and courtesy. Ride protocol on web site.
  • Burny Jacks wife has offered a 5% discount to Ulyssians at the Sunset Liquor store.

NEXT MEETING:

Next meeting will be at Freemasons Hotel at 19.30 of 26th May chaired by Garry Cripps. Meet there for dinner beforehand if you wish. The meeting closed at 2043 hrs.
